Day 78: Oops I've been a little lax on the stories that go with my photos lately. The craziness of summer will do that and like anything else, life gets in the way. I really like writing the stories the way I do and will do my best to get back on track with them. This weekend I am volunteering as a photographer for the MS Society of Canada for their "Biking to the Viking". It's a 160 km ride from Stonewall to Gimli and back. We lost a childhood friend to MS this year. You can read about it on Day 9 of this blog. I can see this being the first of many times I will be spending time for this cause in the future. The photo for today is actually from the other day. Two trucks collided on a stretch of highway west of Kenora. I would have taken a photo of the truck in the ditch on the other side of the road, but there really wasn't much to take a picture of. The bad news, three people taken to hospital. The good news, all three had NON life threatening injuries...
Day 80: Biking to the Viking-Day 1 This is going to be a very short post. I could go on about what I saw today and even more about what I captured on the camera sensor. I don't think I'm emotionally up to going on about my experience today so I'm going to sum it up nicely for anyone who reads this... WOW... JUST WOW!
Day 81: Struck by Lightning Today was going to be all about day two of Biking to the Viking... Until we got struck by lightning! That's right, Jarod and I were on our way back from Kenora and there was some wicked lightning. I pulled over and got out my big camera but it started to downpour so I pulled out the G9, handed it to Jarod and asked him to video while I drove. There was what seemed like a huge bolt hit the road not to far in front of us. The light, sizzle sound, and smell were all at the same time and if you look at the photo for today you can plainly see that it was inside the car. So it looks official, Jarod and I have been struck by lightning...
